Backend Engineer

About the role

Behind every dashboard on this site there's a service quietly reconciling on-chain data with what users actually need to see. That's the work. You'd build our server-side systems in Next.js route handlers and server actions, backed by Node.js and MongoDB: REST APIs, data models, authentication and rate limiting, background jobs, and the integrations that pull in RPC providers, indexers, and notifications. A lot of the interesting problems here are about correctness under failure, not raw throughput: retries, idempotency, and jobs that have to survive a provider going dark mid-run. We're looking for someone who can take a requirement from "we need X" to a deployed, observable service, and who has opinions about where state should live and why.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services with Next.js route handlers, server actions, TypeScript, and the Node.js runtime
• Design REST APIs for application data, user workflows, and platform administration
• Develop MongoDB schemas, indexes, migrations, and reliable data-access patterns
• Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, validation, audit logs, and secure file handling
• Integrate external providers, blockchain RPC services, indexers, and notification systems
• Create background jobs, queues, caching strategies, and idempotent processing workflows
• Improve observability, testing, performance, and resilience across production services

Required skills

• 5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
• Strong Next.js and TypeScript experience, including server-side application architecture
• Production experience with MongoDB, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
• Knowledge of REST APIs, authentication, authorization, asynchronous processing, and application security
• Ability to design systems from initial requirements through deployment and operation

Preferred skills

• Experience with Redis, job queues, webhooks, event-driven systems, or serverless deployment
• Familiarity with GitHub Apps, OAuth, blockchain RPC providers, and transaction data
• Experience operating Next.js applications on Vercel, AWS, or equivalent infrastructure
